The whole loop is four taps:

1. Report tab → Report Issue
2. Tap the photo box — TrailWatch captures your photo and your location together.
3. Speak what you see (tap Finish when you're done) or tap the keyboard to type it.
4. Save Report — it uploads on its own once you have signal.

That's it. Everything else is extra.

When you take a photo, TrailWatch records where you're standing at that exact moment. That's how a downed branch or a washout gets found again later. The small number next to your coordinates (like ±11m) is how precise the GPS fix is — smaller is better. Give it a second under open sky if it looks off.

Trails don't have bars, and TrailWatch doesn't need them. Every report saves to your device the moment you tap Save. When your phone finds a stable connection, anything waiting goes up on its own — no action needed from you.

Check Profile → Queue to see how many reports are still waiting to upload. Try to let the queue clear before you reset anything (see below).

• Report — file what you find on the trail.
• Profile — your name and email, and your current status.
• Events — upcoming volunteer days, pulled from the Native Ground site. Tap to sign up.
• Help — you're here. Docs, and the button up top to replay the walkthrough.

• Become a volunteer — sign up to join Native Ground's stewardship crew.
• Reset device identity — ⚠️ Read this first. This clears TrailWatch's memory of who you are on this device — your name and email — and drops you back at the welcome screen to start fresh. That is the only thing it touches. It does not affect your phone, your photos, or anything outside TrailWatch. Nothing on your device is deleted. Only do this when your queue is empty (Profile → Queue) — any reports still waiting to upload would be lost.

Installing puts TrailWatch on your home screen with its own icon, opens it full-screen like a regular app, and makes the offline features work properly. Takes about ten seconds.

Android (Chrome):

1. Open trailwatch.native-ground.org in Chrome.
2. You may see a prompt to install — tap it. If not, tap the ⋮ menu (top right), then Add to Home screen (it may say Install app).
3. Confirm. The TrailWatch icon lands on your home screen.

iPhone / iPad (Safari):

1. Open trailwatch.native-ground.org — it has to be in Safari. (Tapping the link from inside another app, like Messages or a browser that isn't Safari, won't offer the install option.)
2. Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow pointing up).
3. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
4. Tap Add in the top corner. The TrailWatch icon lands on your home screen.

Once it's installed, always open TrailWatch from that home-screen icon — not the browser — so your reports and offline queue stay in one place.

• Pull up to refresh, or fully close and reopen the app.
• Reports stuck in the queue will keep trying — they go up once you have a stable connection.
• Build version and the address TrailWatch is hosted at are listed on the Profile tab if you ever need them.
